2005 Sebring 2.7L idle speed
 

Greetings. Have a question. What is the idle supposed to be at for the 2005 2.7L engine in a Chrysler Sebring? I have read that this is the lowest ideling engine in the world that uses gas? The reason I ask is because I replaced my IAC motor cleaned the throtle body out and it runs fine but every once in a while it will throw a "engine rpms lower that expected" code.

I have a code reader and it said that the engine idle is at 850 rpm when it threw the code. I had a 2001 Stratus with the same engine and I did everything the same to this engine as the Stratuses and It idled around 650 every time and never threw a code. I am starting to think that I might need to have the computer re flashed as it does not seem to learn my way of driving but still the way the previous owner drove it. Disconnecting the battery did nothing. Maybe a faulty TPS? The TPS position was a 12.5 % when I read the FF data in park. Is that normal?

I can clear the code just fine every time with my code reader. It could be the bitter cold out as it has been brutal here is WI recently. I can deffinatly tell this car does not care for winter too much. Any help is appreciated.

Target idle speed is determined by the following inputs:
-Gear position
-ECT (Engine Coolant Temperature) Sensor
-Battery voltage
-Ambient/Battery Temperature Sensor
-VSS (Vehicle Speed Sensor)
-TPS (Throttle Position Sensor)
-MAP (Manifold Absolute Pressure) Sensor

The brutal cold you are experiencing may be contributing to the problem.

Thank you for the information. I figured it was the cold I have not driven it in the warmer weather yet as I recently bought it. But when it is nicer out, the car runs and idles just fine. Maybe I will have to wait till the summer to get it to learn my way of driving. I still have yet to really get into the cars engine as it has just been so cold. Even in the garage its still too cold.
