2006 Sebring convertible roof motor leaking fluid

I have a 2006 Sebring that I bought new ages ago. The top was leaking the fluid (hydraulic?) from the pump behind the back seat.

It turns out (we are told) that apparently there is a leak in the line that goes under the passenger door to (I assume) the engine compartment. They tell us this is a $3000 repair, which I find unbelievable. Is this actually possible or is the dealer trying to pull a fast one?

I am going from memory on what they told us back in February so if this makes no sense, I'll try to get a better explanation. I'm a computer programmer, not a mechanic so this is all a mystery to me.

Thanks, David

Take it somewhere else. That's total BS. The top is driven by an electric pump for the hydraulics. The pump is in the back, near the mechanism. There is no line that goes under the passenger door. For $3000 you can replace the car.
There are shops that specialize in convertible tops. They do that all day, every day. Dealerships rarely work on convertible tops. Take it somewhere where they know what they are doing. The dealership would probably subcontract the work out anyway. That's probably why the estimate was so far out. They don't know what needs to be done or how to do it.
Come back and tell us how it went.
