2007 Sebring 2.4L need fuel pump electrical connector
 
Hi everyone, I recently had to buy a fuel pump and I also need the connector since mine is melted. Can anyone show me where to find one online? Or at least give me the correct mopar part number? It's really hard to find. Any help would be appreciated. Thanks!

Start with the dealership. You don't need a part number. The part number would be for the whole harness, which you don't need or want. There should be a repair kit and the parts counter guy can probably locate it for you. If you strike out, then look for a generic connector with the same number of connectors and then you'll have to splice both ends in. Look for a weatherproof connector since this is under the car.

Update:

The part number for the fuel pump connector is 68020945AB and can be found at this link:

It cost about $80 at the dealer and around $50 online from a dealer who also sells online. Same part.

This is a kit with wires and the connector. You have to follow the wiring diagram carefully as one of the wires needs to be 20 gauge and the other 3 are 16 gauge. You have to cut off the old connector, push the wires into the holes, plug the hole, and crimp and shield your new wires to the old wire. The kit comes with everything you need but I used my own heat shrink and wire connectors. Here is wiring and pin info.

My car was shutting off while driving. It would restart after letting it sit for a few minutes. It got worse as time passed. The fuel pump is easy to check. I pulled the back seat and pulled the connector. One pin on the pump side was corroded and melted a hole into the top of the fuel pump and the connector. So I replaced the pump and connector.

I would like to know what caused the pin to corrode and overheat.

Corrosion can be caused by a little water getting in where it isn't supposed to be. Being under the car, it's not hard to imagine a stray splash from a puddle working its way in there. Once there's a little corrosion, it sets up a vicious cycle. The corrosion increases the resistance of the connection, which causes it to heat up. The heat causes more corrosion which causes more resistance which causes more heat until the connection fails. Thank goodness nothing caused a fire, which would have ruined your whole day.

Must be fairly common I bet it’s the same pin burning up on every one that does it
