2013 200 Intermittent transmission noise
2013 Chrysler 200
100,300 miles 2.4 L 4-cylinder 4 speed automatic transmission Owned for 23 days The last couple of days, when shifting from Park to Reverse, Park to Drive, Reverse to Drive, or Drive to Reverse, there is a "clunk" noise from the transmission. When it is cooler, the "clunk" is not much more noticeable than a rock bouncing off the bottom of the car. Later in the day, the noise is much louder, like someone hitting a metal patio table with a small sledge hammer. I've read on other forums that this transmission is noisy. There is a time sensitive component to this: on August 10, my 30-day warranty expires from the dealer from whom I purchased the car. Any thoughts or suggestions? Thank you. |
Could be dirty trans fluid, could be something much more serious and expensive. Take it in immediately and be very detailed and specific with your description of symptoms. They need to run proper diagnostics to determine what is wrong. Make sure you have created a good clear record of the problems with the dealership before the warranty runs out. It's not up to you to diagnose the problem ant tell them how to fix it. It's up to you to tell them of the existence of the problem and let them figure out what is wrong and fix it. Make sure you bring it in when it's well warmed up and have them ride with you so they can experience the problem with you.
