2013 Chrysler 200
Hello I own a 2013 Chrysler 200 2.4 and I’m having a few problems. Car won’t turn on at times I need a jump start and boom. Changed alternator and battery. When I open my door to leave, it makes the ringing sound as if I left the lights on or my keys in my ignition and it won’t let me lock the car I think maybe something in the car stays on overnight and drains the battery what could the ringing be?
Try putting a drop of WD-40 on the end of your key and work it in and out of the ignition switch a few times. There's a little tiny plunger in there that is depressed when you put the key in. If it sticks, then the car thinks you have left the key in the ignition and it dings and won't let you lock the doors.
If you believe something is draining the battery, check the current draw with everything shut down. It should be less than 0.050 amperes (50 milliamps). Some current is drawn by the clock and the receiver for the remote key. If it's more than that, start pulling fuses one by one until you see it drop. If you find a circuit that is drawing power when it shouldn't, then you'll have to figure out what is on that circuit and try to isolate each component until you find the culprit. Look also for a wire rubbing on a sharp edge which could cause a short or partial short.
