2017 200: Will not leave park, will not release key, brake lights work

HI,
Mom has a 2017 Chrysler 200. When put in park it will not shift out of it... nor will the key release from the ignition. We could get it into gear by going under the cup mount... but I heard something plastic sound like it broke.
The brakes lights are functioning.

Any ideas?
