96 convertible driving/fog lights

This is my second 96 conv. the first one the driving/fog lights, had a switch, but would only come on w/headlights, it was a base model. This one is a LX, I can not find a switch anywhere, so I thought maybe they auto come on, but they don't. I would just go buy new light bulb's, but without a way to turn them on, I don't want to waste my money. Yes they are real bulbs w/ real wires going to the harness. Also I would like to set them to auto come on w/ ignition switch instead of headlight switch. But right now I'll be happy just to get them to work. Any ideas?

RE: 96 convertible driving/fog lights

If they are OEM fog lamps, the switch is on the the turn signal stalk. Turn the headlights on to low beam and pull the endcap of the switch away from the steering column. Many folks have reported difficulty with this switch if it hasn't been used in a while and resolved it by actuating several times to "knock the dust off" literally. ;)

Your fog lights will only work on low beam with the headlights. Once you click the stalk to actuate the high beams the fog lamps will go off until you call for low beams again. You will also have to push the cap back in to turn the lights off completely. There is a detent that keeps you from leaving the fog lamps in the on position when the lights are off.

Hope this helps. Good luck!
