96 sebring 2.0 dohc timing belt replacement advice requested
I am replacing the timing belt, idler pulleys and water pump in my 96 Sebring coupe with the 2.0 DOHC engine. Has anyone had firsthand experience doing this job? There does not seem to be any way to remove the engine motor mount which attaches to the block with 3 bolts because there isn't enough room between the timing cover and and fenderwell. I got those 3 bolts completely loosened but can't get them out !
Is there a trick to doing this? Any help would be appreciated. Thanks in advance ! |
Have you removed the plastic inner fender (splash guard)?
|
Yes, I removed the plastic inner gaurd in order to get at the bolt closest to the firewall. All 3 bolts are loosened, but I still can't get them out.
Have you personally done this job on this engine on this car or a Dodge Avenger? Thanks. |
No. If you don't find anyone on this forum who has, you might try a Dodge forum or a Mitsubishi forum. The car was built by Mitsubishi, you know.

Thanks for that most excellent suggestion ! My authentic Chrysler manual is useless, but I have found Mitsubishi manuals (89 and 90 Monteros) useful.
