97 Sebring - RPM issue and Electrical Issue
 

RPM issue -
I will be driving along when randomly (occurs on a bi-monthly basis for the past year) the rpm will decrease from driving speed (approx. 2600) down to idle speed and the car will begin to coast. Pumping the gas petal has no affect on the engine. I generally pull over, put the car in park for 20 seconds, then back into drive and the problem goes away until it occurs again. It is completely RANDOM- I can never guess when or where - so I can't replicate for a mechanic. ANY HELP THANKS!

Battery issue -
About 2 weeks ago, I noticed my car wouldn't re-start after driving for 20 or 30 minutes. It jumps fine, all my electrical components work fine, and I can drive it for several hours with no problem. It is NOT the battery (replaced 2x), and it is NOT the alternator (checked it 2x). I'm guessing there is a drain, but I can't pinpoint - and I'm not sure if the symptoms describe a leak. ANY HELP THANKS!

I'm wondering if the issues might be connected???

It's easy to check for a current leak. Get a voltmeter with current reading capacity. Disconnect the battery at the ground (negative) terminal and connect the meter to read amps between the terminals you just disconnected. Make sure everything is turned off, the doors are closed and if there's an under-hood light, that it's off.
The current draw should be around 0.050 amps or less. If it's more than that, you've got a leak somewhere. Pull fuses one at a time to isolate the leak. Once you've got it isolated, you can begin to track it down.

Asfor the RPM issue, have you checked for codes?
