Question 99 Sebring A/C,Serpentine,Timing,alternator

1999 Sebring Convertable
180,000 miles
3.7 Liter

A/C compressor has seized. Because of this nothing turned by the serpentine works. No battery = no drive... Local auto-shop quote to replace complete A/C unit is very near $700 dollars. This is just too much for me to spend on this car.

My question.. Can I bypass? Im thinking your basic idler out of a Jegs type catalog? Or completely remove A/C and use a shorter belt? Has anyone done this? Any ideas? Please.

Search engines have sent me to other posts with the same issue but none with an answer. Seems to be a common issue. I also did a search of your forum to no avail.

Iv noticed that some of your members have a true wealth of knowledge. I love my RAM but know little about my wifes Sebring.

Thank you
Basic

What?

As in a cheaper AC unit?
or
Shorter belt?
or
an Idler?

I know unless I replace the unit with OE, I will ...

Your a bit rude sir. Are you honestly a "TECH"
Your first post did nothing but re-word my question.
The only difference between your first and second post is "bypass kit"

You answered nothing. Any fool knows the dealer offers nothing in the form of any type of bypass.

Ill go slower too...
Has anyone come across this issue?
How was it solved?
