Default 99 Sebring exhaust manifold very hot

I have a 1999 Chrysler Sebring with a 2.5 liter V-6 and it sat for several months. I just changed the plugs, wires, cap and rotor and started it up and it idles rough. I test drove it a few miles and it just got worse and cel came on, and the rear exhaust bank pipe got red hot. I am wondering if my map sensor is out or the O2 sensor is bad? Does this sound right? I don't have a code reader, but I am thinking since one side got hot and the other didn't it almost has to be a sensor. When i take the little hose off the top of the intake plenum it changes the idle considerably, it actually sounds better. Any thoughts?

It was getting really hot on just the one side of the exhaust. It was red hot on the exhaust bank next to the firewall. I am sure the front bank was hot, but it clearly was not as hot as the back. Would that still be something like a mixed up plug wire? I was pretty sure I got them back in order, but it is possible they are off by one. I was thinking that since the idle changed when I removed the little vacumn line on the top of the intake plenum that might point to the O2 sensor or the map sensor. Am I a bit off on this? I am sure they need replaced anyway since they look original.

thanks for the help.
