Broken Bumper
 

I have a 2000 sebring lxi coupe. I have seen a lot of sebrings with a broken bumper. I dont know the correct word for it but the part of the bumper that is in the middle and is always scraped when you pull too close to a curb or a parking block. I see them all the time so i know it is a popular problem. Can someone please help me with any product orDIY fix so i wont have to purchase another bumper. THANKS!!!



Not the same car but the best to see the bumper. Between the two fog lights.

It was like that when i bought it. I purchased it used and did not care at the time due to the extreme deal i recieved. no other problems with vehicle but the cosmetic damage to the bumper.

No, it's not the same car.[sm=icon_stickpoke.gif] But it does have a great open feel to it. [sm=drlove.gif] But then I'm a little prejudiced[sm=smiley33.gif]

Anyway, there are compounds that are available from the auto parts stores to smooth over the scrapes and dings. Even to repair any splits that come up. The fascia (bumper) is a single piece that extends from the hood-line down and is held on by a few bolts and lots of push in fasteners. The biggest problem with repairs to this or anywhere else on the body is you'll wind up having to paint at least some of it. Most folks aren't set up to paint properly to ensure a good finish. Plus, if you have a metallic or pearl paint, you've got to apply it in a way that will match or blend with the other nearby surfaces of the car to get it to look right.

If you've got a body shop that will work with you, you might be able to cut a deal to do all the surface work and let them paint it only. That's probably going to be the best combination for least money and best results.
