Car Won't Start!

My car shut off on the freeway. Had to have it towed. 2010 Sebring

My MIL light has been on, but have taken it to the dealer before and told it was just a gas gap issue. As I was driving I kinda felt my car jerking, my battery light came on, I pulled over and the car shut off (I can't remember if I turned it off or if it turned off itself). When turning the key, the lights and dashboard come on but the car won't turn over and start.
The guy who towed it was able to get it to start but only when the jumper cables are attached. Once removed it immediately dies.

What could be the cause? Getting the battery tested tomorrow but not sure if this is even the issue. Thanks

If it will run with jumper cables attached but won't run when they are removed then you probably have a dead battery. You didn't say how old your battery is but if it's never been replaced then it is past due. There may be enough juice in the battery to light the lights on the dash but starting and running requires a good battery.
