Chrysler Sebring LXi Alternator Replacement

Hey,

I'm trying to replace the alternator on my friend's 2001 Chrysler Sebring LXi. It's a V6 3.0L and from what I've read it's essentially the same as the Mitsubishi Eclipse. I've tested the alternator and it's definitely bad, but I'm not sure how to get the damn thing out. It looks like the easiest way to get at the tensioner is to remove the passenger side front tire, and the splash panel. But I wanted to make sure I have the right idea before I start taking things apart. Some of the things I've read online say you have to jack the car up, or remove other components... Any input you have is greatly appreciated.

Get a Haynes manual. It'll help you through this job and many others. The 25 or so bucks you spend will be repaid many times over in saved effort.
Be aware that the coupe is a very different animal from the sedan/convertible. You are correct that the coupe is built by Mitsubishi. The coupe has virtually no parts in common with the sedan/convertible. Remember that when ordering parts.
