chyrsler 200 stalls on cold startup
 

ok folks I have a 2015 chrysler 200 4cyln motor. My wife has been experienceing stalling problems last few weeks. I've had my first experience myself the other day, here's how it went. Started car RPM leveled out norm then died down to about 4-500 RPM and ALMOST stalled. I put it in drive and started to leave the car hesitated and RPM's dropped slightly. As leaving the driveway it ALMOST stalled I gave it gas and caught it before it did. Couple of hundred feet down the road it did stall, took 4-5 trys to get it to start. Drove down the road a few more hundred feet and it stopped again, took 4-5 trys to get it to start (just rolls) at this point I did pour gas line atifreeze into it. On probably the 5th try it did start with quite a bit of chugging. Worked fine for the remainder of the 40 minute drive home.

You didn't include information about the ambient temperature but you did mention that you added some gas-line antifreeze. If the outside temperature was below freezing, it's possible that you got a little ice in the gas line, and the antifreeze took care of it. The ice may not have blocked the flow completely but slowed it down enough to cause a stall. See how it goes in the next few days. Make it a practice to keep the tank full when the temperature is fluctuating. More air in the tank means more moisture in there which is what leads to a frozen gas line situation.

this has been happening for a few weeks now, temp was around 0 to +5 degress celius when it happened to me, First time it happened to my wife about 3 weeks ago we put the gas line atifreeze to it, I'm guessing in 3 weeks 3 bottles has been run thru it, it generally doesn't do it if you let the car sit and warm up a bit. I don't think it is a moisture/ice issue. I think me putting the gas line antifreeze in it and it started shortly there after was just a coincidence, don't think the gas line atifreeze was the solution. it stalls no matter how much gas is in it, generally on a cold start without letting it warm up. It's only happened to me once as I don't drive it that much.

You might want to check the computer system for OBD error codes.

How many miles are on the car? The 2.4 is noted for throttle body gumming up with oil residue from the PCV system and needing cleaning. Also a check for trouble codes is in order also...Especially if the Check Engine Light has been coming on.

Sorry couple points I forgot to mention, under 70000 KM's and throwing no codes, check engine light is not/does not come on

I also put 1/2 bottle of seafoam thru it as well

Do you have a readout in the car for outside temperature? If so, is it accurate? If not (to either question), you might want to check the ambient temperature sensor which is usually located behind the front bumper. If that is giving an erroneous reading to the computer, the computer will not be handling the fuel management correctly for the temperature. It's sort of like the choke not working correctly in a carburetor.

yes I do and yes it is
