Dead no crank

I have a 2008 Chrysler Sebring the wife was driving it turned a corner to go into a parking lot and the car quit, dead no crank. So I bought a new ignition switch which I was installing and I noticed that there is a wire coiled around the key housing where the signal from the key is read. It leads into the wiring harness and the skreem looks like it's been cut off where the collar would go around the key and that is where this wire is wrapped around. The skreem box is there and has 2 fine wires coming out of it where it was cut off and the other end is still plugged into the cars original pigtail for the skreem.
    What is up with this?

The most common causes for a no-crank no-start are a dead battery, Faulty Starter Motor, Bad Starter Solenoid, Faulty Ignition Switch, Faulty Neutral Safety Switch, Ignition System Issues, Fuel System Issues, Faulty Crankshaft Position Sensor, Wiring and Connection Problems, and Engine Mechanical Issues.
