Desperately need help! 97 Sebring won't start!

4 months ago (after owning the car for only 4 days), 97 my Sebring LX (2.0) shut down on in interstate. Turns out the timing belt broke, and it bent valves, as well. I finally saved up the money to fix it....Replaced the timing belt, pulleys, head, gaskets, water pump, etc., but my car still won't start. She does turn over, and she has spark. You can smell gas, so she's getting fuel. After 4 months and quite a bit of money, I'm very frustrated, and begging for any help that anyone can give....thank you.

check sensor connections around the throttle body (MAP sensor etc.) if one of these sensors is bad or not connected it could cause the computer to guess the wrong fuel/air mixture causing the engine not to start

Hook up a code reader and see if it's throwing any codes.

Along with the code read, have you actually checked compression?

Also, when you say it won't start, will it fire at all, try to fire, or is it completely dead?

Where do you smell the gas? Exhaust pipe, or near motor? Both?

You may have a major vacuum issue. Also your idle air valve may be wide open and stuck there.

Who did the actual work? And is the timing been verified?

I agree with a compression test to check timing (it's not a precise test for that purpose, but it should let you know if something is wrong with valve timing). You have to make sure the distributor is installed correctly too-- I think it is possible to install it 180 degrees off.
