There is no EGR on the 2004 sebring 2.7l. Why do you ask?

I have 2004 convertible. I had to pull the original 2.7 l and replace it with a 2005 2.7 l. Hooking up the wiring I had a hell of a time finding the connector for the EGR valve. Imagine my surprise to find out the 2004 doesn't have one! Yet my 2005 engine very clearly had one. Why would they make an engine without an e g r valve , then put a valve in a 2005? I would think that if they figured out a way to make an engine work without an EGR valve, they would continue to do it that way. Why did they switch back? And what did they use to take the place of the EGR system on a 2004?

an egr is used to lower combustion temp in the cylinders. Depending for that year or not if the total emissions needs to be lowered or what ever there main number is to have the level at. They will add or take away and egr to make the system work how the numbers are needed.

Was the 2005 2.7l from a Sebring? ! know neither the 2004 and 2006 sebrings have an egr and would be surprised that the 2005 Sebring was an exception.

They likely switched due to changing emission requirements.

The 2.7 liter I have now was from a Sebring convertible, but I may be mistaken as to the year. It might have been a 2006.
