Door lock switch not working 02 sebring sedan

I have a 2002 sebring sedan and the driver side door lock switch isn't working. tried replacing it and that didn't work. the passanger side switch and the FOB works fine. There are now blown fuses. Any ideas??

There's a feature designed into the system to disable the electric locking switch in the door if the key is left in the ignition to lessen the likelihood of locking yourself out of the car. It requires a little switch in the ignition key slot to sense the presence of the key. Yours may be stuck or acting erratically. Try a drop of WD-40 on the ignition key to lubricate the little switch. Might help, won't hurt.

Only other thing I can think of is that the wiring leading to the door may have gone bad. Everything goes through the body computer, so activation of that switch doesn't operate the door lock unless the body computer agrees. The wires leading to the door are subject to a little flexing every time the door opens, and one of them may have cracked. You could trace it down by checking the continuity of every wire leading to the switch. It's a bit tedious but it ain't rocket science, so if you have the time, you might want to try it. Paying a mechanic to do it at $60 per hour could get expensive real fast.
