Engine fire - car totaled

Has anyone ever heard of other Seabrings catching fire? Today my mother's 1997 Seabring caught fire and the car was totaled. She was inside the restaurant, when someone said a red convertable was on fire!

Any advice would be welcome. This is a 70 year old woman who can't afford to go out a buy another car.

That's terrible! I'm sorry it happened to her :( The only recall that Chrysler has made for the convertible Sebring for 1997 was the "POWER TRAIN:AUTOMATIC TRANSMISSION:LEVER AND LINKAGE:FLOOR SHIFT" ....

I've never heard of a Sebring yet alone any Chrysler product busting into flames. Must have been a freak accident or something. It happens...

Yesterday my 1997 Sebring caught on fire while grocery shopping. The Lt. from the fire department said it was electrical. I'm devasted. Is there any recourse? Help!!

Recourse would be your savings.......$ put aside by you for emergencies.
