Engine wont turn over after washing
Hi Everyone, I had a question regarding my sister's 1999 Sebring JXI Conv. She just bought it about a week ago and I was getting it ready for her to drive. I made the mistake of washing the engine and now it will crank, but it wont turn over. I have changed spark plugs, put a new cap and rotor on it and used wire dryer and dried as much as possible with an air compressor and still nothing. Does anyone know what else the problem might be? Oh, and I removed the computer and double checked that too, it looked dry inside. Any help would be greatly appreciated

Hook up a scanner and get the codes. Take it from there.

I did, but there arent any codes coming up

Do you have spark?
How about fuel pressure? |
There is fuel pressure, and I have confirmed there is no spark. According to Scanner, all systems are functional. I took the distributor apart and when I opened it, there was oil sitting inside the distibutor housing where the coil and cam position sensor are located. I have changed the valve cover gaskets and spark plug tube seals. Under the Intake manifold, one of the tube seals was leaking before I changed them. Do you think it could be the ignition coil causing the start up problem?

Pretty common on that engine, just read through all the threads here on that subject. You'll probably wind up replacing the distributor. Might need to change the crank sensor, too. They seem to fail in pairs for some reason.
