Error Code P 0440 whats that mean??
 

My check engine light went on and I performed the self diagnostic, by turning the car key on and off two times. P 0440 flashed on the odometer. I have a 2004 Sebring sedan. Anyone know what this means??

The code represents that your EVAP system has a problem. The EVAP systems involves the gas cap, charcoal canister, purge solenoid, and vacuum lines from the front to the rear of the vehicle. The system is designed to burn the fuel vapors from the fuel tank.

Check your gas cap first, then the vacuum hoses from the fill tube for fuel to the gas tank, charcoal canister, purge solenoid, and on to the intake manifold. There is a leak or blockage somewhere. If it is truly elusive some shops can do a "smoke" test of the system to find leaks.
