Exhaust

I have a 2004 Sebring w/3.0V6, Automatic trans, K&N air filter and was wanting to put a "Free flow" or performance muffler with a larger pipe from the cat back.
Has anyone done this? Is it worth the expence and extra noise?
I noticed it has several resinators or flex pipes?
Will the new altered exhaust system just add noise or will I gain MPG along with any boost in performance?

I would think it would add at least 2 MPG hwy and better acceleration.
By the way, the car only has 1,250 miles on it.
Do you think this change would void any warranty?

Thanks for any/all comments.

RE: Exhaust

OK - I did it. I went to my local muffler shop and modified the exhaust system after calling the Chrysler dealer. The dealer said I can do anything from the cat back and it would not void my warranty. So the Muffler guy cuts off the muffler from right in front of the muffler. We start the car and we are totally surprised as to how quiet the car sounds. We talked about from the cat back and there are 3 cats and 2 resinators and 2 flex coupling to reduce vibration so the system is pretty quiet already. He holds an 18" long turbo muffler up and the sound is with no change if any. So I went with a 18" 2 1/4" inside diameter glass pack and it is great! Some meaty sound and open flow performance. I really like it! I just wanted to let everyone know how it turned out. Now I want to go on a 3,500 mile trip and see how the mpg is affected. I'll let you know in June. and I'll try to post a few pics also.

RE: Exhaust

My best milage was 30.8 mpg running 75mph.
I was able to get 28.6mpg running 65 - 70 with Air Conditioning running.

Yes I am pleased.

RE: Exhaust

I have straight pipes to the back with a muffler on each, but they both go to the right side so they look semi stock, just a little bigger and a lot meaner... we're in the process of pulling the old motor out and waiting for the new one to come in... HKS is coming out to do a custom valve train job on the new motor in a week so that could be fun... There are probably some pics in here somewhere of my car before it was in restoration... I have a 98 JXI that has been to hell and back about 4 times over, so it's pretty rough.. interior is almost done though, so that's good...
