Fog Lights won't work

Replace bulbs and can't get the fog lights to work on 2001 Sebring convertible. Any secrets I don't know. Is the switch in the turn signal lever?

The headlights must be on. Pull the end of the turn signal lever straight out.

Hi there. Did you figure out this problem by chance? If not, someone on here made a post, which I can not find currently, about pulling the multi-function lever's fog light switch in and out harshly with out breaking it about ten times.

It sounds silly, and the only reason I am repeating this is because my 2005 Sebring's fog lights did not work either so I figured I'd give this ago. To my suprise it worked and on the tenth pull at that lol. Both lights came on as well as the dash indicator. It now seems to work perfectly.

Not sure what happened but its working.

Most likely, as a result of non-use, the contacts in the switch developed a coating of oxide that prevented the flow of current. Activating the switch several times probably broke through the oxide layer and got current flowing again. There's nothing magic about the number 10 in the formula.

Well I tried the pulling out on the switch, no success. I can't find a fuse for the fog lights. I found a spot in the fuse holder under the hood that says fog lights RR convertible only, which is what I have. It's not a fuse it is a square black plug(which I can't seem to think of what to call it now) anyway it has no contacts to be able to plug one in.

That's a relay. Were the headlights on?

Yes the headlights were on, yes, relay..duh. It doesn't look like there has ever been one plugged in

Strange...Has the fuse box been replaced ever? And are you sure there are no contacts in the spaces for the relay?

You could always get a relay from the dealership or quite possibly the junk yard and give it a shot. With the dealership you might be able to get a refund if it does not work.

Could be that a previous owner tried to upgrade to fog lights and gave up after installing the bumper cover with the lights and the switch.
With the VIN, a local dealer can determine whether the car was built with fog lights or not, and all other options as well.

Good point dcooter. I believe thats the route to go especialle since there are things missing. You will be able to find out for sure that way.
