Fuel pressure drops in 5 seconds!!

Hi,

My mechanic replaced my fuel pump. (I assume that pump is new).

Now, my 2003 2.7 sebring has a hard start condition.

I did a fuel pressure test: Pressure increase from 0 to 50 psi, car starts in 3 - 4 seconds and engine runs good. When start key is turned off, engine is off and fuel pressure drops from 50 to 0 psi in 5 seconds. Then, new start needs 3 - 4 seconds again.

I used a snap pliers in the fuel hose in order to cut the fuel return when engine is off. In this condition, fuel pressure don't drops and remains the same.

Any ideas, help or advice will be apreciated.

Thanks in advance,

Denis V.

If blocking the return line fixes it. I'd say the regulator is bad/faulty I'm not 100% where it is located on your specific car but that's what I'd be doing next.
