Gauge cluster not functional in cold - 2004 Sebring Convertible

I know this may be a stupid question but I got a hand me down car and have been trying to fix it up. Once the winter hit the gauge cluster would go completely out except for the backlights. After about 20 or 30 minutes of the car heating up the gauges would turn on out of thr blue. So I went further with this took out the cluster when it wasnt working and held it up to the heat and plugged it in. Surprise it worked fine. So is their any fix or reason why it would be doing this?

Probably an inverter problem.
