Hazard Flasher repair?

Is it possible to repair the hazard flasher in the steering column ? 43. US dollars to replace

Brand of car? Year? Most small components are replaced rather than repaired because it would not be economical to pay somebody $50-100 per hour to try to repair it. If you think you are handy enough to try it, go ahead and give it a try. Also, shop around. Some small components are generic and can be found at parts stores or on the internet. Dealer prices are usually much higher than generic sources.

I believe the flasher switch is part of the multifunction switch which also controls the turn signals, wipers and headlights. Because it does all those things, it's complicated and therefore expensive. Nobody services that, it's just replaced "as a unit" as they say. If you think you can fix it, have at it. You've got nothing to lose. If you mess it up, you'll just replace it anyway. Make sure it's not the relay first. The relay is a lot cheaper. When making repairs where you're not certain of the cause of the problem, always replace the cheapest thing first. Again, shop around for a good price.
