immobilizer feature on 02 sebring gtc convertible
 

bought used 02 sebring gtc convertible, trying to figure out what the immobilizer feature that is listed as standad equipment for this vehicle actually is, what and how it does what ever it does? any info appreciated!!!

it is the gray key that u have. That key will only work with u car any key can open the car but only that one or other ones that are programed to that car will start it up. It works by allowing the pcm to see that u are who u say u are and not some one trying to take the car. It will lock the car down for 1 hour if the wrong key is used 3 times. Good system to my understanding cant be by passed unless u are vary good and can get assess to both computers that have the secret key and replace them at the same time hehe. Several other cars use some what of the same system works well.
