interior noise behind dash

Sebring 2007 V6 sedan 50k km .

Large, loud clicking noise, irregular, comes from behind dash or ignition key...can't exactly tell ..

no MIL , no codes on OBDII everything works perfectly

any ideas before I start disassembling ?

it turns out that the noise comes from actuator, left blend actuator is travelling far.

this is very strange it happens only some time, irregular, i assume that control unit faulty ? or shall i calibrate again ?

The little plastic gears in it are probably skipping sometimes. Hard to know for sure without watching the feedback on a scan tool.

well it lasts about 3-4 seconds before it stops. and on OBDII no DTC was recorded a nothing came up when running HVAC test.

I can replace the actuator but I have no idea how to calibrate it, or there could be damaged control unit that is pushing the actuator too far ?

I'm measuring voltage range +5.0 to - 5.0 V when rotating temp control knop is this voltage correct ?

should it be 0V on COLD end or HOT end when door is totally closed to evaporator or opposite to heater core ?

pls advise. i'm getting crazy here ..!

What are you using to read the HVAC, a DRB or a generic? Try doing a capacitive discharge (unhooking and touching battery terminals together for 10-30 minutes) and when you boot back up it should go through self calibration when you start the car. I'm assuming you have Auto temp control ATC since you have the V-6 in it.

Normal scan tool, it shows DTC if generated by HVAC without ability to calibrate actuators. and I used voltimeter to measure the voltage at actuator motor. I thought that voltage when blend door is closed to max cool or max heat should be zero.

Tomorrow i will get new actuator ( 62$ from mopar ) replace and perform capacitive discharge as you suggested.

and yes I do have ATC.

problem resolved .. replaced actuator without calibrating by installing arm @ same place as the old actuator.

I have seen broken teeth inside old actuator.

I'm satisfied now :-D

Is performing capacitive discharge the same on V-4?

Help me replace mine
