Intermittant Starting / Power Issue-00 Sebring

Purchased a 2000 Sebring for our daughter approximately 8 months ago. Driving was very limited over the winter due to she didn't actually get her license until 6 weeks ago.

Once she was using the car on a regular basis, maybe one in thirty times you would start the car it would not turn over. Sometimes you would wait 5 minutes and it would start, sometimes a half hour. This has become more frequent lately.

Local fix-it shop only put dry gas in it, thinking it had gotten moisture in the tank over the winter. Not it. No codes are coming up, battery tests good, alternator tests good.

Recently she says it has actually turned off while driving and then started back up. She also says the aftermarket stereo has been losing power (possibly unrelated). Recently when I went to start it, there was no power at all (lights, seat, radio,...).

Obviously something is shorting out. Where to start? I'm not overly mechanically-inclined when it comes to cars, but I also know this could be something they could be chasing for awhile if I take it somewhere.

Don't really want a 16 year old taking it to the mall if you aren't sure it will start back up. She is able to drive it to school every day though.

Any thoughts?
