intermittent starting

My brother in law has a 2006 sebring and called me about a problem he started having. sometimes the car will start on the first try then other times it takes a few turns of the key before it starts. battery and charging system is fine. any ideas?

what does it do or not do when U try and start it?

He says that sometimes its hard to start. it cranks but wont start. and he said it is stalling alot when he does get it started.(stop signs and red lights) it doesnt cut out on him while driving though. Im thinking fuel pump? also he said he ran out of gas a few times this year cuz the fuel gauge dont work. maybe he over extended the fuel pump?

a fuel pump would not allow u to start back up so soon with out it cooling off. I would bank on a cam or crank sensor get the codes read at an auto parts place

it ended up being a clogged up/dirty throttle body. go figure. thanks
