New Battery Lost Charge

I replaced the battery in our 2013 200 and it was starting fine yesterday when I replaced it. Today I started the car with the remote on the key and it started right up. I let the car run for a while and it shut itself off. I went out about 30 minutes later and the battery was very dead, I couldn’t even unlock the door with the key fob. I literally had to leave jumper cables on for over 30 minutes before it would start. Any ideas what could’ve drained the battery so rapidly?

Could've been a bad battery to begin with. It happens.

There could be a short in the car draining the battery. With all lights off, key out of ignition, the normal current draw should be less that 50 milliamps (0.050 amperes). You'll need a proper meter to measure it. This current draw runs the clock and the receiver for the key fob waiting for a signal to unlock the doors or start the car. If the current draw is greater than that, pull fuses until it drops. The short will be in the circuit controlled by that fuse. Make certain that some random light wasn't left on unintentionally.
