hello all, my 2.7 is pretty noisy when i start it up in the morning ( or when cold ). this noise goes away when warmed up. im guessing the water pump is going bad. any input would be welcome. by the way...112000 miles

 

You haven't described the noise. Whining sort of sound? Rumble? Roar? Where is it coming from? Before you start throwing parts at it, you might invest in a mechanic's stethoscope to try to pin it down better. You can find them for less than $10 and could easily save hundreds.

 

sounds like timing chain tensioner starting to go.go you change your oil every 3 k ? moe

 

the best way to describe the noise is a bad alternator bearing....only louder. of course i have already eliminated this posibility. i do change oil every 3k. i'd like to learn more about the timing chain tensioner. shed some light boys.

 

You sure it's not a loose belt? They make a god-awful noise when they squeal. Other candidates are bad serpentine belt tensioner, power steering pump, A/C compressor clutch bearing, etc.

 

Maybe it's a bad lifter or 2. But i'm not to sure of that engines liter design plus i'm on the hunt to beff one up but no one offers after market parts for them.
