Overheating after waterpump change 2.7 v6

Hey enthusiasts

I just changed my water pump and thermostat on my 2004 2.7 v6 which costed me two of my limbs. After taking it for a test run, the engine heat gauge was at half way point which triggered the fan; the mechanic said it was ok. Driving in the city was ok as I heard the fan was busy working and keeping then needle just a tiny bit above halfway.

I made another trip to the airport and back and as soon as I got off the highway, the engine was overheating and the needle almost touching the upper red line.

Before taking it to the mechanic, can anyone please advise me what may seem to be the problem for this overheat. I love my car alot and would also hate for him to take my other two limbs.

Thanks, cheers

Check the coolant level. If he didn't bleed it when he filled it after the repair, it may be low. It takes a couple of warm-up and cool-down cycles to bleed the air out.
