Overheating at idle

This is my first message on this forum. I hope you can help me!
I have a 2001 sebring coupe 3.0 v6, and it was working great... until now. It is 110k.
I noticed this weekend that I was very very low on coolant (my bad... it had been a long time since a checked it). So i filled the reservoir. The level then decreased quite rapidally. I filled it 2 or 3 time, and then the level stabilized to full, and still no appearant leak could be noticed.
I thought I was done... but yesterday evening, I got stuck in traffic. My engine was in low regime, and it started overheating greatly.
I opened the hood, but couldn't notice any abnormal thing. The reservoir of coolant was full, and i didn't notice any smell, smoke or leak.
I waited 30min for the engine to cool down and start again.
As I was idling, the temp began to increase again. I tried to pull the throttle to see what happen and... the temp suddenly dropped!

So here the situation:
-It appears that my coolant reservoir is now stabilized to full.
-No leaks found until now. BUT I live in texas... the drops may evaporate VERY quickly
-overheat at low regime, cooling in higher regime

I read that it may be the radiator filler cap that doesn't insure the required 16psi of collant pressure. Would this be plausible.
Could it be the water pump?
Any other idea?

There are a number of causes of overheating. To name some of them: Fan(s) not operating, restricted air flow over radiator due to leaves, bugs, etc., internally plugged radiator, improper coolant, blown head gasket, bad pressure cap, collapsed radiator hose, bad water pump, and probably some more that haven't come to mind.

Try to eliminate those that you can handle, if that doesn't do it, seek professional help.

I have the same problem did you ever figure out what was wrong?
