Power Window Issue
 

Okay the problem is with my passenger front door in my 2004 Sebring sedan. The window would not operate from the master switch or the passenger door. I just went through replacing the motor and it still doesn't work.

Any thoughts?

Where can I get a good wiring diagram of the circuits?

If there is a problem with the master switch, will it keep the other switch from working?

Look in the bundle of wires from the drivers door into the door frame near the hinge. There may be a broken wire or two there. It happens from flexing of the wires from opening and closing the door. After 10 years, even a little flexing can take its toll. You can peel back the cover and see the wires in the harness.

You can get a complete wiring diagram in the shop manual. They come up on eBay occasionally. Make sure it's not a manual for the coupe which is a completely different car.

The master switch could keep the other one from working if it was stuck in the "lock" position but the master switch should work itself if that happened.

If none of this helps, you'll need to start at themotor and see if you can trace back through the wires to where you are losing the juice. It's not rocket science so if you have a volt-ohm meter you can do it. Just use patience and common sense.

Thanks for the advice. I finally found the broken wires inside the boot going from frame to passenger door. I made some repairs, got the window working, now having door lock issues. UGHHH.
Do they sell these harnesses or should I just keep working on repairing what's there. It's a bit of a challenge to strip and splice wires when they're only an inch long.

You might be able to buy a replacement harness but it'll be a dealer-only item and not cheap. Nor will it be an easy repair.

Dealers usually sell parts for models going back 10 years, but since the 2004-2006 Sebrings were pretty much the same, you may still be able to get that part.
