Problems adding intake to the 2.7L

I was wondering if there would be any problems adding a intake to the 2.7L engine, would i have to worrie about any componet issues failing from the extra air?

U know its not going to do anything to performance right?

might cause some of the sensors to go nuts.might start running lean.

yes it will improve performance, maybe very litle but still (all depends how restricting is OEM intake)....
And no you should not have any isues with sensors, and it should not run lean, since sensors compensate with more fuel.

humm lets see now the only sensors on the intake would be MAP, and intake temp and well they are only 2/10 caculations that give the computer the info to make corrections and as for the intake giving performance not really do u want to know why I will give u a little back ground of chryslers they use speed density computer the only company making cars that has it so the larger intake or such u have does not change how it runs. IF u have a huge intake what does it matter if the throtle body is the same size? X amount of air can still only go thought X amount of space correct? A super charger would work because it would compress the incomming air that would give u a boost. And now on the other end the computer is allwase trying to get to 14.7 to 1 part fuel so if u even get more air in there some how with out a computer designed to over rule the programing it will alwase lean or ritchen the fuel to get back to 14.7 to 1 no matter what U do.

yes, computer always tryes to keep it at 14.7 in low rpms and if you at WOT (wide open throtle) it runs richer. Computer will compansate the amount of air coming with apropriate amount of fuel, but you are forgeting that stock airfilter and box is more restrictive then aftermarket cone airfilter / intake. With less restrictive air filter, car will be able to suck more air in high rpms and computer will add apropriate fuel - you will have more dense mixture in your sylinder = more power. (engine uses its power to suck in air too)

It is dyno proven (by companies and many people) for my 2.7 V6 Tiburon that Air Intake ads 12-15hp. Now maybe sebring does not have as restrictive filter and box, but i can asure you that it is still restrictive. Restrictive filter and defenetly restrictive box with silencer.

No one dynoed their 2.7 sebring but if you look at 3L (00-04 Mitsubishi Eclipse) you will see incerase in hp with intake.

The only cars that have almost no improvement in hp with addition of aftermarket intake are those with fastory boost (SRT-4, Cobalt SS) because they have better intake from factory and their turbo sucks air in, not the engine. I am suprised that you dont know things like that.

in reguards to the eclipse that would be a mass air flow and yes an intake and what ever elseu do will give u more HP this is a chrysler though not mass air flow the diamater of the throtle body is a fixed mesurement in the math to which the fuel trim is corrected.
give u something that can be under stood. if u have a garden hose with an open end say the pressure is the same at the end which would be the incomming air and the garden hose end is say 1 inch. DO u think the volume of water that can pass by will be the same or more if u have a garnen hose that is 2 inches it wouls be the same. As for air its still the same unless u compress the air and an intake does not compress it just moves it around.

RE: Problems adding intake to the 2.7L

That might not be exactly true. The length of garden hose before the coupling adds to the restriction of the over-all flow. In the fire service a 2 1/2 inch hose of a set length will flow so much water, we now have 3 inch hoses with the same 2 1/2 couplings and they flow about twice the water flow as a 2 1/2 hose of the same length. So if you can over come restrictions in the air delivery system like high flow air filters, straight and smooth intakes will help bring faster air to the limited throttle opening. The engine doesn't have to "suck" as hard to get the air it needs. When it get more air it mixes more gas and makes more HP. If this wasen't the case, we would have a 2 inch throttle intake and 2 inch air intake hose and a 2 inch air filter but the air filter has about 100 sq inches ( or more) just to feed a 2 inch throttle body. My 2 cents worth.
