Question about a 2.7 swap

Looking to buy a 2004 Sebring convertible and it has I believe a u code motor, we found another non convertible with a r code or vice versa. I do know one is an R and the other is a U code. Will those interchange ok or should I just pass on the purchase, Thanks for any help. I have tried the google thing but with no REAL clarification.:)

I might add the other donor car is a 2003 I think if it is a 2003 does that change anything by it not being a 2004 donor car?

so long as both computer s are teh same they they will work if they are different there is alot of swapping of internal stuff to make work

I found the fuel injectors are different. The long-term fuel trim will eventually throw a code when the fuel injectors are too big and the computer tries to narrow the fuel pulse. I have found the best option is to swap out the long block with a new model year motor.

That Green fuel injector is a FLEX fuel injector thats why its bigger.

2.7 swap

2004 and 2003 have different crank shaft sensors and the slots in the flywheel are different also the slots in the cam wheel are different. the nock sensor plug is different and the plug to the ECM may be different on some models. you can save your self a lot of trouble by staying with the model year that the car came with or get a long block and change everything off of the old engine
