question about tune up parts
What kind of spark plugs are oem for the 1999 Sebring lxi.., what are the best wires to use for the job?
champion platinum
The guys at the auto parts store can look up the right numbers. BTW, don't try to set the gap on platinum plugs. They come gapped already and checking them with old-fashioned gap checkers can damage the platinum coating.
Ok kool thanks guys... What should the gap be for plugs for these motors anyway?
its on the while label under the hood
Thanks for the info

Does anyone have a step by step guide that covers the tune up process One these cars....???? I need on badly... Would like to get tune up done by months end thanks

Sorry but I failed to mention my cars the 1999 Sebring lxi coupe
remove the intake and then u ca get to the plugs
Buy a manual, like Haynes or Chilton's for a step-by-step description of the process. There's a manual for Chrysler Sebrings that includes the coupe. When buying parts, be sure to buy parts for the coupe. Coupes were built by Mitsubishi and are totally different cars from the sedans/convertibles.

ok so i have all my parts lined up. but i just have one more question to ask before i start tearing things down... its about the intake gasket, is there anything holding it inplace like rtv??? just thought i should ask before i started.. i hate surprizes:D
its a metal gasket
roger that, thank u...:):)
LIke stated it is a metal gasket, but good for us, there is no sealant on it. You just lift out the old one, clean residual intake gunk from mating surfaces with carb cleaner and pop the new gskt and upper plenum back on when done with plugs.
that sounds like music to my ears!!!!! i thought i was gonna be fighting to get the old gasket off... thats why i thought i would ask first before i started... i didnt want to go in blind. so thank u guys for getting back to me on that question

I totally understand the feeling. I had the added chore of needing to replace my valve cover gaskets because most of the plug tubes had oil in them . I was told to prepare myself to spend A - LOT - OF time tediously removing the old cover gaskets. Though my first reaction was bummed, I appreciated knowing going in that was 'part of the job' and it was taken in stride. We all hate surprises when embarking on repair projects.
So, I too, salute and appreciate all here that share their experience with others here not familiar with the procedure or processes involved. Especially when there are tips or helpful things to do that the manual might not mention. |
