radiator hose / connection / bubbles

Temperature guage showed H, so I checked the reservior. It was empty, I added fluid, and started the car.
I noticed the hose from the radiator reservoir to the block was bubbling. Has anyone ever seen this? Attachment 1553 Attachment 1554 Thanks, D |
That fitting with all the hoses coming out is called the coolant outlet manifold. It's made of plastic and is known to have problems. Search the forum here for the term "gear wrench" and you will find a very long thread on the subject with much useful information. You can find the part complete with temperature sensor on the web and at auto parts stores. You'll need an 8mm flex head ratchet wrench to get it out without removing the upper intake manifold. With the right tool, it's an easy job.

After filling up the reservoir, starting the car, noticing the bubbles, and posting this thread, I did not get a chance to use the car until a week later. I started it up, and after a few minutes, I remembered I should check the reservoir, when I did I noticed it was very low. That leads me to my question: was it low because the car was up and running for a few minutes? Or was it low because the car sat for a week and there is some small leak and the new fluid I added, leaked out? I drove it a short distance and everything appeared to be okay, including the thermostat; sitting nicely between H and C. |

fluid leak it was low due to a fluid leak that is the last thing u need to worry about replace the housing then fill er up.

I saw a how-to video and wanted to know if it is possible to reach the two driver-side bolts without remove the top black plastic piece above the engine. Thank you |
Edit: ignore #2, I took a look for myself and there is no way I can reach the one bolt without lifting the manifold above it.
