Rear Stabilizer Bar end links, 02 convertible

Can anyone adivse as to how tight these should be? The book says 26 ft. lbs. but the only way I can get that reading with a torque wrench is if the nut is bottomed out on the bolt threads. Up until then the bushings just keep compressing. It seems they are way too compressed if I tighten them that far.

That's the correct way of installing them. Do you trust your torque wrench?

Torque wrench is good. It just seemed that the bushings were far more compressed than they should be. The nut turned fairly easily until I reached the end of the threads and then I made sure they were torqued to specs. If that is correct then I am good. Thanks.
