I assume you are referring to the abs light on the dash. That's controlled by the body computer and there are several things that can cause it to come on. Your best bet, since you don't want to be throwing parts at the problem, is to get into the computer and find out exactly what is triggering the light. That will require a trip to the dealer or someone with a DRB III machine with up-to-date software to read the fault codes.
There's no point in anyone here just guessing.
You probably shouldn't gamble with the brakes of the car. They are kind of important.

Wiggle the parking brake lever, and try to duplicate the symptom. Those switches can get gummed up with Coffee , soda, cigarette ashes, or anything else that can make its way into the center console. They can also just wear out from use, or stick from "Non-use".

Secondly, Check the brake fluid level again.... There is a "Magnetic" sensor used in place of a Float switch in the master cylinder. If the fluid is even the slightest bit low, while manuevering the vehicle, or sudden stops, the fluid will "Slosh" to one side of the reservoir, and "Trip" the warning lamp.

Just for info.....If the brake pads are healthy, and the fluid is low.....There IS a leak somewhere that MUST be addressed.

Glad to hear it.....

So far , the best Ive seen, is a Dime, that magically jumped out of the cupholder, and into the center console slot. It fell down and came to rest between the contacts of the park brake switch......HAd us all stumped for a while...
