Sebring 2008 2.0i manual: hesitation between 2k-3k rpm range

Hi,

I got an 2008 Sebring with 2.0i engine, manual transmission. There is an annoying issue that sometimes happens: when accelerating (whether pedal down all the way or more conservatively) some hesitation, or uneven performance, happens between the rpm range of 2000-3000. After that nothing, and up until about 2200 it seems to work fine and smooth.

This happens often, but not always so sometimes hard to replicate.
I have changed spark plugs, oil is always changed in time, and I tested and cleaned the o2 sensor as well. The plugs or o2 sensor did not fix the issue. There are no obd2 codes present in the system

Anyone have suggestions what could be the culprit?

Thanks!

Strong possibility of a crank OR cam position sensor going bad. There are many reports of such symptoms with no CEL illumination for these easy to replace parts.

Any idea where from web i could find the location of those in my engine. All seem to be for 2.4 and that looks slightly different
