Sebring shifting issue

Hello I have a 2000 Chrysler Sebring 2 door convertible. I believe it's the V6 2.7 ltr engine. Recently had shift cable installed and now the floor shifter doesn't "click" into park nor does it "click" into " L ". it starts and moves without stuttering or whining. but the ignition will not allow the key to fully rotate to off position.
examples are read from left to rightarrows indicate direction of rotation of key
example being (/) -> (--)to startexample being (--) <- (|) to turn off.
the question is, since I know the cable was recently replaced is there a possibility that the guy who did the work (not my mechanic guy and cannot contact "other" guy) may have misaligned the cable and shifter position? or maybe removed the arm from transmission and maybe placed it incorrectly back on to the transmission? because the safety mechanism for shifting out of park doesn't engage ( no need for the brake to get out of park) but the shifter freely (perhaps too freely) moves through all positions?
I want to apologize in advance for any confusion or lack of pertinent information. will respond with any information to help expedite a solution.

If yours is a 2000 it's not a 2.7L engine. The 2.7 L engine first came out in 2001. If yours is a V-6 it would be a 2.5L or a 3.0L.

Anyway, you ask if it's a possibility that the shift cable was not installed/adjusted properly. I think it's a certainty.

Thank you for the quick response and correcting my motor specs. it's the 2.5 V6.
I will revisit the new cable and will update.
