Simple seat problem

Hey, everyone. 01 Sebring is still running great and no major problems at all. So my seat when I press harder on the back of it it will click out of place a couple of clicks then click back into place if i lift my back off of it. It only happens when im sitting down in it and i lean back with more of my weight. Anybody have any idea what exactly is going on? It happens on the right side of the seat and not the left. I imagine there are 2 little wheels in there that are worn down or something that allows it to do this, but that is all assumption. Thanks for your help.

Yeah, that's more or less what's probably going on. One side is a little out of whack and the pawl is not seating into the cogs on that side. The other side is holding well and the seat is distorting when you press on it, then springing back.
You will need to pull the seat out of the car and take it apart to get in there and see what's going on.
Not meaning to scare you, but this could be a safety issue in the event of a severe rear end collision. If the seat collapses, you can wind up in the back seat with your neck broken.
If yours is a convertible, the safety problem is greater as the seatback is supposed to hold the shoulder harness.
So don't get in any crashes with the seat not up to snuff.
