Sometimes fails to start
I have a great running 2004 Sebring Touring that I put 500 miles per week on. Sometimes after a short run, it fails to start. If I wait 15 minutes, it starts right up and runs normally. The car has no other symptoms and no codes. Has anyone encountered this?

Welcome to the Forum, would be helpful to know what motor and mileage is on your Sebring. Also being an 04 has it had any maint. (plus and such) lately?

130,000 miles. Oil changes only.

Don't you think that it may be time to follow up with some normal maint. as the owners manual recommends? Like spark plugs, and such, depending on what motor is under the hood? 14 years on original parts can be quite telling on operation, especially in wet damp conditions we are now getting.

Let's start over. I am a former Chrysler service tech. The car has been properly maintained. I am tracking down an intermittent issue and was hoping that someone had experience or knowledge with this. The symptoms are pretty specific, but there is nothing in the usual knowledge databases.

YES LETS! I also am a former chrysler tech. That being said, let's work on the problem and NOT personalities. NOT knowing your ride, carbon build up creating a "fuel soak" MAY be a cause, weak or dirty injectors MAY also come into play. Then there is also the POSSIBILITY that there is a glitch in the CTS to PCM readings preventing adequate injector pulses to restart.
Hope this helps give you some ideas to work with! |
