swap a 2001 2.7l to a 2004 2.7l NGC

i was told i cant just change the computer to make the swap work is this ture, its a 2001 sebring 2.7L conv.with a 2004 2.7L engine in it. can i buy a new computer and swap the engine wiring harness to make it work.

its not gonna work there will to many different variables to put into play.
