timing belt
I need directions on changing my grandmas timing belt in her 99 chrysler sebring lx. i know it's usually an easy fix i havn't looked at it yet though and i don't want to spend the extra money to buy helms or chilton on a car that isn't mine. thank you

Go to the library and read through the Chilton's or Haynes there to find out how to do the job. When you decide whether or not you want to tackle the job, you can decide whether you want to spend 20 bucks for the book.
Besides, Mother's Day is coming up. Buy the book for Grandma instead of flowers. |
The timing belt is usually not an "easy" fix-- unless the coupe is a lot different from most other cars. Check out the service info on autozone's website, they will likely have what you need for free.

if it's the 4-cyl 2.4, it's easy. The only special tool you need is a 3-jaw puller to get the crank damper off. The tensioner can be tricky, and so is getting the timing just right. But compared to most 6's it's a walk in the park.
