Timing Question

2005 Chrysler Sebring Sedan 2.4 DOHC Vin x

Mechanic didn't finish the job. I am looking for instructions on setting the timing. The belt originally broke. Idler pulley and tensioner are being replaced. The belt is already off and camshaft sprockets are off and ready to be put back on. The instructions I have found are assuming the belt is already on the car.

Thanks

buy a service manual

Wow. The service manual assumes that the belt replacement is for maintenance. Thanks for you time

I can somewhat sympathize Both sides here....

Aftermarket service Info typically doesnt show the CRANK alignment marks...Just the cam.... And if you lined it up prior to taking the belt off...The crank would be correctly aligned..If the belt had broken or slipped...The guy is left with NO reference for his crank marks.....

NOW....Having said that...ANYONE who has a clue about what theyre doing, knows that the job is all about finding "DOTS..or arrows, or Notches" on two surfaces and lining them up.... There is a Mark on the block, and there is a mark on the crank sprocket...Just LOOK FOR THEM..

Just a quick note....You mentioned the cam sprockets were removed......

Look CAREFULLY at BOTH SPROCKETS, Jot down on a piece of paper EVERY SINGLE MARKING , letter and number on the sprockets....Now ...FLIP THEM OVER AND DO IT AGAIN.....There is something very Different about top to bottom, up and down and front and back. Make SURE YOU HAVE IT RIGHT BEFORE YOU BOLT THEM BACK ON.....
