Towing Chrysler Sebring 2002 - Where attach tow rope?
 

Hi,
I need to tow my Chrysler Sebring 2002 to a repair shop (the engine doesn't start anymore). Do you know where I should attach the tow rope? I did not find a towing eye.
And do you know whether I can retrieve a trouble code without special equipment?

Turn the key from all the way off to on (not started but so the radio and stuff works) like 4 or 5 times and an engine code will show up on the odometer screen.

For towing many people do it different ways and will say some ways are wrong and what not. I used to tow my neon by the front engine mount when i had it. The only time i needed to tow my Sebring i had to have a tow truck tow it cause it had to go over a bridge.

That key dance probably won't work on a 2002. You might be able to borrow a code reader from Autozone or other parts store.

There really isn't a good place to attach a tow rope. These cars are not designed for tow ropes. For one thing, the transmission will not lubricate itself properly if the car is moving and the engine is not running.

If you think you can fix it yourself, then you ought to invest in a code reader. It'll pay for itself the first time you use it. If you aren't into repair, just hire a tow truck and have it towed to the garage. You'll probably wind up paying enough for the repair that the cost of the tow will look like a minor expense.

Did they stop the self diagnostic thing after 01? Or is there another reason it probably wont work?

Thanks a lot for the quick help! We had it finally towed by a truck which lifts the front wheels.
The key dance did not reeal any error code, just "done" lit up in the display. I don't know if this means that the feature is not available a t all or that no error code was saved. The latter would be strange since they told us in the repair shop that the timing chain jumped, and that therefore timinig chain, accessory driver belt, water pump and cam sensor need to be replaced. I guess one of them would have caused an error code. Repair would be $1,800, do you know if that's a fair price?
